About the Blog

My Very Long Walk started as a means to chronicle my experiences as I hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, hence the name. However, somewhere along the way the blog morphed into a giant out of control word-monster. It steadily became less and less about the Appalachian Trail and became more and more about whatever I wanted to talk about at the time. I fell in love with writing. The journey was the experience of a lifetime, but my favorite part was always writing the blog. Once the adventure was over, the thought of not continuing the blog saddened and terrified me. So I decided to continue writing and sharing my life. As to what the blog is now about, it is a place where I will share my future adventures, stories from my past and pretty much any weird thing the voices in my head demand me to write. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you will follow along as I share with you my very long walk through life.

(See what I did there with the name? Check out the rest of the blog for more dangerously clever and crafty wordplay.)

Wow Mr. Dickens. Congratulations on your decision to embark on such a huge journey. It is one of my two goals in life to Hike the Appalachian Trail so hopefully someday I’ll be in your shoes. Until then, I’ll have to follow up on your journey to see what lies in store. Cheers!

Chase, I bet your family is very proud of your work. I was friends with your 2 uncles in my teens and 20s. Your Dad and grandparents are special people to me and I look up to them greatly. This is good stuff. Keep on keeping on!
